Maker Faire is returning to Chattanooga on September 9th at the First Tennessee Pavilion! The event will run from 10am-6pm, and admission is free to the public.
Maker Faire is the greatest show (and tell) on Earth. This family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness is a celebration of the Maker movement. It's a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning! This is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these "makers" to show hobbies, experiments, and projects. Take a glimpse into the future and get inspired!
There are several ways to be involved with Maker Faire:
Exhibit as a Maker: Do you have a great skill or craft? We want to see it! As a maker, you can show a finished piece of work and explain it, teach a skill, or lead a hands-on activity. Makers range from tech enthusiasts, to crafters, to homesteaders, to scientists, to garage tinkerers, and are of all ages and backgrounds. We are looking for as many educational topics for attendees as possible!
Sell as a Commercial Maker or Corporate Exhibitor: Will you be selling anything? Apply to be a Commerical Maker or Corporate Exhibitor to offer your products to over 4,000 attendees. Commercial Makers include businesses that make artisanal products, crafts, and/or unique technologies. Corporate Exhibitors include companies that operate outside the "maker" tradition and simply want to sell their products and services at the event. The fee for participating as a Commercial Maker is $75, while the fee for participating as a Corporate Exhibitor is $100.
History of Maker Faire
The Chattanooga Mini Maker Faire was launched in October 2014, closing out the first Startup Week Chattanooga. The event has continued to be held every year at the First Tennessee Pavilion and has attracted more makers and attendees each year. Chattanooga’s maker community has grown significantly, just as the entrepreneurial community has grown in the past decade.
Maker Faire originated in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a project of the editors of Make: Magazine. It has since grown into a significant worldwide network of both flagship and independently-produced events.
We can't wait to see you there!
