Worlds Come Together at Bessie Smith Cultural Center
An initiative of the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan, Dosti invites a group of Pakistani, Indian, and U.S. musicians from a wide variety of traditions, ranging from Sufi singing to beatmaking to avant garde jazz, to collaboratively write, record, and perform original music, reinvent traditional music, and develop initiatives that will make a positive impact on communities locally and internationally. Dosti, which means friendship in both Urdu and Hindi, seeks to transcend political and cultural barriers through cross-cultural musical collaboration.
The final concert of the Dosti Music Project 2016 will take place at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center in Chattanooga on March 19, 2016. The space will be transformed into a cozy living environment, and audiences will be treated to an intimate one-of-a-kind performance and delicious food from Sitar Indian Cuisine.
Join us in the culmination of this incredible project and hear the songs and stories created by the 10 Dosti Fellows over the course of their month of collaboration.
