Rock/Creek celebrated 27 years in business this year by opening a new store in Cleveland, TN. With six local shops and an online presence, they’ve just about run out of locations to open moreoutdoor stores in Chattanooga.

We’ve heard rumors of a seventh store opening in 2016, so we’ve been hard at work trying to figure out where it might be located. We listened in on a recent brainstorming session at their ski gear and paddling shop on Riverside Drive, and bring you our 7 favorite ideas they discussed for new shop locations:

Rock/Creek at Ruby Falls
The new Rock/Creek store will open adjacent to the Ruby Falls gift shop. Since it’s a constant 60 degrees inside, you’re going to need a fleece jacket! Ticket prices will increase from $18.95 to $117.95, but will now include the Patagonia fleece jacket of your choosing. We’ll also host a weekly after-hours run, utilizing the trail system available right out of the parking lot. Ruby Falls allows runners and cyclists to use their lower parking lot for trail access.

Rock/Creek at Moccasin Bend
With a new national park plan going into place soon, this area’s only getting better for outdoor enthusiasts. “We’re thinking this one will be more of a running shop. We might even partner with Fast Break on this one,” says events and race director Brian Costilow. Local runners and cyclists use “the Bend” for daily training, and sometimes it’s just not convenient to get into the 2 North Shore parking lot.

Rock/Creek at Rock City
Tourism magnate Bill Chapin has been courting Rock/Creek for years, and they finally decided to make a permanent home at Rock City. “The most difficult decision for us is whether to locate right next to the white deer, or after the trippy gnome section,” says Chad Wykle, head buyer at the shop. Construction will begin as soon as the Enchanted Garden of Lights closes for the season.

Rock/Creek on MLK
Sometimes genius strikes after a couple beers. The retailer’s management team were enjoying some Gneiss beer at Hutton & Smith, the new brewery owned by rock climbers, when they realized the space next door was still available. “Since the Southside’s real estate has already popped, we decided to open in the up-and-coming Martin Luther King district,” says Mark McKnight, Marketing Director and MLK resident.

Rock/Creek at Stone Fort
The retailer will open their first climbing-and-disc-golf-only shop at Montlake Golf Club, the site of fantastic bouldering at Stone Fort (formerly known as Little Rock City) as well as host to the Triple Crown of Bouldering, one of the Southeast’s largest climbing events. “If we open up at the real Rock City, why not at Little Rock City as well,” says owner Dawson Wheeler; “This one will feel a lot like The Block location next to High Point Climbing, except for the disc golf.”

Rock/Creek at Rock Creek
The board at Lula Lake Land Trust works tirelessly to protect the Rock Creek and Bear Creek watersheds, but they recently realized they don’t have a Rock/Creek store to protect. No longer! “The iconic 90-foot Lula Falls is fed by their namesake tributary, so opening a store along its banks is a no-brainer for these guys,” says Board Chair Brad Cobb.

Rock/Creek “Down Under 27”
Recognizing that customers have missed the old Down Under store that used to be in Coolidge Park, Rock/Creek’s boating managers Jamie Casson and Daxton Bacalman decided to keep the theme and open up next to the new bike park that Trust for Public Land has proposed under the Olgiati bridge. With convenient access to the expanded riverwalk, this store will cater to tourists, boaters and cyclists alike. The drain spouts even offer a convenient dry-top testing zone.
