Date nights are a fun and essential aspect of our romantic lives, but how do you still have fun when nearly everything is online or requiring you to be 6-feet apart. There are ways! Chattanooga still offers some great date night options from food, to music, to movies and more.

So, let’s stop restlessly cleaning everything for an evening and enjoy this virtual date night we’ve put together for you.

Step 1: Order take out (or delivery) from your favorite restaurant.

If your idea of a date night is a candlelit dinner at your dining room table with soft jazz playing in the background, we recommend something fancy like St. John’s (pick-up or delivery), Il Primo or Public House which are offering family-style to-go orders. If you’re wanting more of the “pallet on the living room floor” kind of vibe — a Netflix and chill kind of night, If you know what I mean — we recommend pick-up or delivery from Pizza Bro’s, or some of Champy’s famous fried chicken.

Step 2: Choose your entertainment.

We know it’s not the same as walking across Walnut Street Bridge, but a movie night inside can be just as nice. Enjoy the Bobby Stone Film Series through Virtual Cinema, presented by the Tivoli Theater and West Village. The historic theatre, although currently closed, is continuing to bring the very best in cinema magic to you for this date night through the available films you can find here. So, kick back, relax and enjoy the show. If you’re wanting something a little more hands-on, take a virtual cooking class with the chefs at Davis Wanye’s and learn how to make adult cocktails, kid-friendly mocktails and chocolate-dipped bacon.

Step 3: Treat Yo’ Self.

It’s been a hard few weeks and nothing seals the deal of a great date night like a sweet treat from one of your favorite local spots around town. You don’t even have to leave the house. Julie Darling Donuts can satisfy all your cravings and be delivered to you via Uber Eats (or you can pick it up). If the new Strawberry Cheesecake Donut doesn’t satisfy the craving, we’re sure Clumpie’s Ice Cream Co. can. They’re offering delivery for Chattanooga locals for a flat rate of $5. Worth it. Try the Mint Julep flavor - it’s perfect for spring.

Food and beverage professionals are severely impacted by restaurants closing or shifting to take-out. Workers are hurting. Every little bit helps. Every time you have a drink or meal at home during social distancing, consider tipping a local service industry worker through Venmo or Cash App. You can support your local service industry workers here.
