ASK A LOCAL - Sarah Unger

Sarah UngerWhat do you do?

I own my own photography business. I make photos of people and businesses in the Chattanooga area.

What do you most love about Chattanooga?

Its geographical location. Aside from itself being the most beautiful, I can be at the beach in 6 hours, visiting my sister in Knoxville in 1.5 hours, Bonnaroo in 1.5 hours, mountains of North Carolina, Atlanta, Nashville, all in under 3 hours.

What is your favorite Chattanooga location that you love to capture?

As beautiful as all the scenery is in Chattanooga, I think my favorite locations to capture are the abandoned, ungroomed areas of downtown. I like historic architecture, old signs and worn textures. Mountains and rivers are obviously beautiful, but there are so many interesting things in the nitty gritty of the city (haha that rhymed).

What Chattanooga experience do you rave about to locals and visitors?

The accessibility to water and mountain activities from the downtown area, Mainx24 and the wonderful restaurants!

What is your favorite local restaurant?

This is so difficult for me . . . Flying Squirrel. (Also, 1885 GrillMain Street Meats, Mojo Burrito, Taqueria Ania and Lookout Mountain Pizza Company.)
