Wo is das Essen? (“Where is the food?” in German) is a good question to ask because German culture — especially in October — is alive and well in Chattanooga. Prost! But das food is available year-round at Chattanooga’s original German pub Brewhaus located in the hip Northshore (think Bavaria but with more hippies). At Brewhaus you’ll find a rotating tap of both local and German-style beers. Schnitzel (including the wiener variety), spaetzle, bier cheese and more are always on the menu.
Have a dirndl or some lederhosen in your closet? Each year, Chattanooga Oktoberfest celebrates German culture at the Chattanooga Market. Enjoy Munich beers like Augustiner, Hofbraü and Paulaner, and who knows? … maybe you’ll be the one leading the crowd in “The Chicken Dance.” Cluck. Cluck.
