This free, public event will feature live performances by 16 selected poets, along with music and food.  An expansion of the existing Poetry Pathway, this semi-permanent installation showcases original works by 16 local poets exploring themes of freedom, democracy, identity, and civic responsibility, while reflecting Tennessee’s role in shaping the American story.  Designed as an interactive experience, the pathway includes QR-coded signage where visitors can read and hear each poem and submit their own work for future installations—creating an evolving, community-driven literary space.  “As Project Manager for Democracy Speaks, I’ve had the honor of working with an incredible group of poets whose diversity of age, race, and lived experience makes this installation especially powerful,” said Marsha Mills. “This is more than poetry—it’s a living reflection of community and a meaningful contribution to Chattanooga’s America250 observance.”  The installation will remain in place throughout 2026, with the June 28 launch offering a unique opportunity to meet the poets and experience the work in community.
