On the Water

Crowned “Best in the U.S.” by Lonely Planet, finding water-sports to enjoy in Chattanooga's easy.

Kayaking, Paddleboarding, Rafting, and Tubing

Water? Yeah, we've got it. Rivers. Lakes. Falls. Streams. Even a waterfall inside a mountain (ask one of us about that.) Want a front-row-seat tour of the city's storied industrial beauty? Look no further than a kayak trip down the river. L2 Outside will hook you up! If you’re an adrenaline junkie and a drive outside city limits isn’t a problem, tubing or rafting down the swift-runnin' Ocoee River will get your blood pumping. (And the short drive's totally worth it.) Or check out Adventures Unlimited. They promise… wait for it... unlimited adventures.

Life on the water. It's just. Flat. Better. (That simple!) And getting out on the water couldn’t be easier here. Already blessed with a boat? You here in Chattanooga now? What're you waiting for? All Tennessee State Parks have free boat ramps. And downtown Chattanooga has free kayak/SUP put-ins, too. Ross’s Landing - Chattanooga Pier? Both were built so boaters just like you could take in downtown from its peaceful waters!

Fishing and Boat Rentals

No boat? No prob! Rent one on Lake Chickamauga. Then leisurely motor to lakeside restaurants, islands, and beaches. One of the best ways to see Chattanooga is from the water. Chickamauga Lake to be exact. With 810 miles of shoreline, it’d be hard not to see most of Chattanooga from Chickamauga Lake. If you’re wanting to rip some lips, or for you non-Southern folks – go fishing, on Chickamauga Lake, rent a fishing boat from Lakeshore Marina. If you forgot the poles at home or are trying fishing for the first time, or you’re just not sure where to start? Let the big fish reel you in and book a trip with Kobes Kayak Fishing & Rentals or Scenic City Fishing Charters to experience some of the Scenic City’s fin-est fishing spots. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed.

Guided Tours on the Water

If a party barge is more your style, rent a pontoon boat and relax. Whatever floats your boat. Or, let an experienced captain navigate the Tennessee River for you. Hop on the Southern Belle or one of the Chattanooga Ducks from downtown and leave the driving to them. And enjoy!
