Don’t let work or school keep you from the beautiful warm weather this Summer! Chattanooga is full of some of the best places to finish those projects while enjoying a nice cup of coffee, a light meal, or simply experiencing relaxing outdoor spots with your friends or colleagues.

Chattanooga Outdoor Work + Study Suggestions

Miller Park/Plaza

Grab some friends or coworkers and head on over to the middle of downtown where your first stop is going to be Community Pie. Community Pie has so many specialty pizzas to choose from with no wrong choice to make. They also have a handful of salad, sandwich, and pasta options if you want something a little different. They even offer gluten-free crust!

Your next stop is right next door at Miller Park/Plaza. Miller Park is a newly renovated space ideal for those who want to engulf themselves in the atmosphere of the city while they work. With tons of seating options—ranging from tables, to bringing your own blanket to sit on the lawn--you are guaranteed to get your work done.

Mean Mug Southside

Looking for something a little more tucked away in the hustle and bustle of the city? Maybe you get more work done in quieter settings! Make your way to Mean Mug. Mean Mug Coffeehouse on the Southside is a restaurant and coffee bar located on Main Street – a live, work, and play area of town. Right outside their backdoor, you can enjoy the eclectic, private courtyard as you enjoy a delicate cup of local Velo Coffee Roasters coffee and artisan pastries. They also offer breakfast and lunch!

Outside of the Edwin

Need a quick break from work to get active without leaving downtown? Take a nice stroll on the Walnut Street Walking Bridge, one of the world’s largest pedestrian bridges! This structure stretches right over the Tennessee River and is a hotspot for leisure in the city. Make your way to the end of the bridge to finish your stroll where you can find the Edwin Hotel. You can grab a nice cup of coffee from Provisions, their café downstairs or even a southern-inspired meal from Whitebird to refuel you for your work session. Then head back outside where you can study and continue to take in the wonderful views of the city!

The Westin

Want to stay in the heart of downtown? Grab some friends or colleagues and check out the Westin. The Westin is an urban retreat located in the West Village downtown. Make sure to discover their Italian-inspired restaurant, Alimentari Cucina on the first floor.  If fine dining is not your cup of tea, no worries, you can grab a sandwich and salad at The MarketPlace by Westin and head to their courtyard to finish up your work for the day! Once you’re ready to close your laptop, head upstairs to the tenth floor for a drink and some tapas at Paloma Bar de Tapas, the views from the terrace are incredible!

Rembrandt’s Coffee House

Who doesn’t want to enjoy a nice warm day outside, surrounded by the smells of freshly made pastries, coffee, and magnificent artwork? Head on over to Rembrandt’s Coffee House in the center of the Bluff View Art District. This European-style café has a warm inviting atmosphere that allows you to ‘escape’ for just long enough. Their beautiful outdoor patio, covered in natural greenery, keeps you nice and cool while getting your work done. Just make sure to grab an in-house roasted coffee, baked bread, pastry, dessert, or fine chocolate before you get started!
